My non-art life
Really, I don't do much other than work as there is just so much to do. If I am not painting, or dancing, or teaching, or drawing, or working, I am probably reading or planning or tidying up. It's the dull truth.
I live in Cambridges with my boyfriend and our lovely Buddhist friend, who makes our house smells like incense a lot of the time. My man is a supernaturally busy person, he is always doing stuff and working on one of his many many projects. I am not quite as motivated as he is - I like comfy beds too much. I'm hoping I will get super-motivated with age. Fingers crossed.
I read a lot, and about lots of things - elephants, angels, evolution, fiction, feminisim, spirituality, folklore, business stuff. I spend a lot of time on public transport reading stuff, and a LOT of money on library fines. My favourite books of the year have so far been "The Descent of Woman" by Elaine Morgan which made me very annoying to everyone I knew cos I kept banging on about evolution and "Be a Goddess" by Franchesca de Grandis who must be the awesomest person I have never met. The crappest book of the year was me attempting to read Wicked. We did not get on well.
I make my own dance costumes, it's a bit of a skill in process at the moment but I just love making stuff to wear. When I was a kiddywink I wanted to be a fashion designer, despite being deeply unfashionable, so it's kind of a childhood dream come true there. My regular dress sense is half 1940's glam, half hip-hop tomboy, so you can imagine how that turns out.
I love kiddies films, animated Japanese films and films with the following men in them - Robert Downey Junior, Rufus Sewell or Jeremy Irons. Om nom nom nom nom. Top films of the year include How to Train your Dragon which was INCREDIBLE and Ponyo which was AMAZING. Ponyo is a Japanese anime based on the little mermaid story, and it has loads of dinosaur fish floating through it. Nuff said.
